Koren DC/Barrett MD Trial
The trial is on - The Foundation for Health Choice, Tedd Koren, DC and other interested parties are going face-to-face, head-to-head, eye-to-eye with "Quackbuster" Stephen Barrett, MD on October 10, 2005 in Allentown, PA.

Fighting is never the first option - but Barrett's career seems built upon attacking. Just look at the book he 'edited': Chiropractic - The Victim's Perspective. This is a man who, with his Quackbuster organization operates dozens of anti-chiropractic, anti-natural health, pro-vaccine etc. sites. When people want information on chiropractic, his sites often pop up on the first page.

He watches our profession's activities; he will read e-mail we have sent about this case (probably sent by sympathetic DCs).

Want to take him on? We're doing it, committing our time and resources. Please help us replenish our funds - it's really important if we're to keep this fight alive. Please, please go to this secure page to donate. Just $25 per month or a one time $500 donation can make all the difference. You can also fax or mail in your donation by going here.  You'll be joining us in fighting for healthcare freedom. One of The Foundation's goals is having mandatory vaccination laws declared Unconstitutional. If you don't do it, who will?

Fighting Back!
Steven Barrett, MD a non-practicing psychiatrist and his fellow Quackbusters have been attacking chiropractors for decades, furthering the work of the AMA's failed anti-quackery committee.

They advise industry, government committees, medical journals, the FDA, FTC, the media (see below) and run web sites (ie Quackwatch at http://www.quackwatch.org/index.html on the dangers of chiropractic.

We can discredit them and strike a new blow for freedom. Tedd Koren DC, Jim Turner, Esq. and The Foundation for Health Choice are going head-to-head against the Quackbusters in legal proceedings. We aim to stop their public campaign of dis-information, fear-tactics and hate against chiropractic and all forms of natural healthcare. An example is a partial transcript from the TV special Scientific American Frontiers with Alan Alda where Robert Baratz, MD says chiropractic is dangerous and Alan Alda refers to a Quackbuster book.

ALAN ALDA Robert Baratz is a physician who believes, with Wally Sampson, that patients like Kimberley are confusing cause and effect. The treatment is unconnected to health, he says -- chiropractic bears no relation to reality.

ROBERT BARATZ The chiropractic theory of manipulation as being curative of disease or in terms of diagnosing disease, is based on a false premise. The premise is that there's some kind of vital force flowing around the body, as yet undefined and unquantified and undetectable, that they claim they can manipulate by manipulating the spine.

ALAN ALDA (NARRATION) [The] leg-measuring procedure.

ROBERT BARATZ The length of the leg is not determined by the spine, it's determined by the bones of the leg. And by manipulating the spine or the back, you're not going to change that, because those bones aren't going to change their length by any form of manipulation, unless you break them.

ALAN ALDA (NARRATION) But beginning in the mid-1990s with this book by an injured patient, the safety of neck manipulation has been increasingly questioned.

ROBERT BARATZ Going to a chiropractor and having your neck manipulated is extremely dangerous. Now, can many people have it done and not have a bad outcome? Sure they can. Do you want to take that risk? is the question. Do you want to be the one who gets the paralysis? Because every year there are hundreds of people who get their necks manipulated, have their vertebral arteries torn by chiropractors and end up paralyzed.

Dr. Koren: Isn't it time we stopped taking it on the chin and went on the offensive against Barrett and his cronies? Help stop the forces that disseminate false and discriminatory propaganda to the patients who so desperately need your care. Please don't wait, help us now. The battle is going on as you read this and we can win but only with your support. We don't foresee a long battle if we get your help now!
